What is the Recommended Dua After Adhan I Should Recite?

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh, dear brothers and sisters in Islam. We are going to mention the recommended dua after Adhan that we should recite in shaa Allah in today’s article. But before that, let’s see the reasons and the benefits of saying the dua after adhan first to serve as an encouragement for us in adhering to saying it frequently.

One of the benefits is that it will be a means of earning the intercession of our Prophet Muhammad on the resurrection day. The prophet said:

Whoever hears the call to prayer and says, ‘O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, give Muhammad the means of nearness and the most excellent reward, and raise him to the praiseworthy station that You have promised him,’ then my intercession will be allowed for him on the Day of Resurrection.

Bukhari 589

Another benefit is that it will be a means of earning Allah’s forgiveness. Our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

Whoever says when he hears the call to prayer, ‘I testify there is no God but Allah alone, without any partner, and Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, I am pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Muhammad as a messenger, and with Islam as a religion,’ then his sins will be forgiven.

Muslim 386

Imagine you are sitting quietly at home, perhaps engaged in work or spending time with your family, when suddenly you hear the beautiful sound of the Adhan echoing from the masjid nearby. In that moment, your heart feels a gentle pull toward Allah, like you’re reminded of your real purpose in life – Yes, that is how the adhan is to us Muslims.

This call to prayer is also more than just a reminder; it’s like a direct invitation from Allah to pause our worldly engagements and turn our focus to Him i.e. to remind him. Imagine how special this is — Allah has gifted us the Adhan as a daily reminder to reconnect with Him and recharge our hearts with comfort through Salah.

So remember Me; I will remember you.  Al-Quran 2:152

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured, find rest by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured and find rest. Al-Quran 13:28

For us Muslims, hearing the Adhan is a call to return to our primary assignment in life, to worship Allah, to remember Him and thus gaining a lot of benefits in return as cited in the above verses. When we remember Allah, He remembers us too and in remembering Allah we can only find tranquility, comfort, and rest of mind.

The recommended dua after Adhan that we should always recite are mentioned to us by our prophet (ﷺ) and we are going to list them below now. Read more on the Etiqquettes of responding to the call to prayer.
