It’s nothing new these days seeing people leaving the mouse after saying the tasleem, while this is a very bad act. Maybe it’s due to the fact that a lot of them don’t know the importance of adhkar after salah or the benefits of adhkar after salah. Either one of the two. And it might also be due to the fact that they don’t know it.

We are supposed to be striving Muslims, my brothers and sisters. Someone who will strive to know more about the Deen, and most especially some things that will benefit us, like the adhkar after the salah. Reciting the adhkar after Salah is a highly recommended Sunnah that the Prophet ﷺ consistently practiced and encouraged us to do, and Allah also directed us toward it. Allah says in the Quran..

“And when you have finished the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on your sides…”   (Surah An-Nisa 4:103)

All the authentic recommended adhkar after salah can be found here for those that doesn’t know them.

Salah is our greatest daily connection with Allah, and the adhkar that follow it are among the greatest means of drawing close to Allah and increasing in reward.  The importance of adhkar after salah cannot be taken lightly, and we implore every one of us to hold on to it. The benefits of adhkar after salah are also for our own self, so why are we too quick to leave and rush out of Masjid.

We are going to mention some of the benefits of adhkar after salah in this article today. Maybe this will help a lot of us to hold to it if we understand the importance of Adhkar after Salah.

Powerful benefits of adhkar after Salah

The importance of adhkar after salah cannot be overstated. These blessed words of remembrance are like keys to divine mercy, shields against Shaytaan, and a daily nourishment for the soul. In fact, the benefits of adhkar after salah touch every part of our spiritual, emotional, and even physical life. Below are the powerful, authentic, and life-changing benefits of saying these adhkar after each salah.

    1. Forgiveness of sins

Saying Astaghfirullah three times after Salah is a direct plea to Allah for mercy, especially for any shortcomings in our prayer, whether in focus, humility, or presence of heart. Some people think that it is a formality, while it’s not. You are seeking forgiveness for any heedlessness, distraction, or imperfection in your prayer. Our Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever glorifies Allah (SubhanAllah) 33 times, praises Him (Alhamdulillah) 33 times, and magnifies Him (Allahu Akbar) 33 times after each prayer, then completes it with ‘La ilaha illa Allah, wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer’, his sins will be forgiven even if they were as vast as the foam of the sea.”
    (Sahih Muslim 597)

This powerful act of remembrance is a means to seek forgiveness for any heedlessness or mistakes during the prayer, and it covers general sins as well. Allah’s mercy is vast, and this dhikr taps directly into it.

    2. Protection from Shaytan’s whisperings

Immediately after Salah, Shaytan rushes back again to distract you, make you forget engaging in more good deeds, or pull you back into sin. But among the importance of adhkar after salah is that it keeps you motivated in seeking nearness to Allah, and these adhkar also act like a spiritual barrier that blocks the devil’s whispering. Our Prophet ﷺ said

Whoever says “Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu ‘l-mulku walahu ‘l-ḥamd, wa huwa `alā kulli shay’in qadīr” ten times in the morning

He will have the reward of freeing a slave from the Children of Isma’il. Ten Hasanaat (rewards) will be written for him, and he will be forgiven ten misdeeds, raised up ten degrees, and be protected from Satan until evening. Whoever says it in the evening will have the same reward until morning.

    (Hisnu Muslim 92: Abu Dawud 4/319, 3/957, Ahmad 4/ 60)

If we look at the above hadith, we are going to see that saying that specific dhikr will keep one protected from the whims of shaytan. The virtue of saying this specific dhikr above is among the great benefits of adhkar after salah.

Sa’id ibn Jubayr also reported that Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

“Satan is perched over the heart of the son of Adam. If he is unmindful and he forgets, Satan whispers. If he remembers Allah, Satan withdraws.”    (Musannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah 34774, sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani)

    3. Guaranteed entry into Paradise

Yes, simply reciting certain dhikr after Salah can be your ticket to Jannah. Do you know the dhikr? It is Ayatul Kursi. Our Prophet ﷺ said…

“Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering Paradise except death.”
    (An-Nasa’i 984, authenticated by Al-Albani)

Can you see the importance of adhkar after salah? It can even be a means of entering Jannah. Isn’t that our main goal? This is why we need to be steadfast in saying our adhkar after salah.

    4. Protection from black magic, evil eye, and harm

Adhkar is our spiritual armor that we should always wear and a shield against invisible harms that we often overlook. The Mu’awwidhat (Surah Al-Falaq & An-Nas) after Salah repels dark forces. The Prophet ﷺ advised reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas after Fajr and Maghrib three times and once after the other salawat, stating that they serve as a great protection.

“Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu’awwidhatayn three times in the morning and evening. It will suffice you (as a protection) in all matters”  (Tirmidhi 3575)

Reciting these Surahs acts as divine protection from black magic, the evil eye, and every form of spiritual or physical harm.

    5. Elevation in rank and multiplication of good deeds

Every word of dhikr multiplies your reward and raises your rank in the sight of Allah. Our Prophet ﷺ said…

“Two words are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, and beloved (dearer) to the Most Merciful: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil Azeem.”  (Bukhari 6406, Muslim 2694)

The more you remember Allah, the higher your status in Jannah, and the heavier your scale of good deeds will be on the Day of Judgment.

    6. Strengthens your connection with Allah (increases taqwa and iman)

Adhkar keeps your heart awake, soft, and constantly connected to your Creator. Evidence of this is the promise of Allah in the Quran..

Benefits of adhkar after salah, Importance of adhkar after salah

So remember Me; I will remember you.   (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152)

    And Allah also said

“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”     (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:28)

Regular remembrance after each Salah strengthens your Iman, increases taqwa, and fills the heart with serenity and focus, exactly what every believer needs in this chaotic world.

    7. Barakah (blessings) in time and sustenance

Even though it takes only a few minutes, those minutes bring blessings to your time and increase your provisions. Allah says…

And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed (difficlut) life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.”  (Quran 20:124)

The meaning of the verse above is that whoever is taking time to remember Allah attracts barakah in his or her day, income, relationships, and his or her whole life in general.

    8. A Sunnah in obedience to Allah’s command

By engaging in adhkar after solat, you are also obeying Allah’s command to as He says below…

“And when you have finished the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on your sides…”   (Surah An-Nisa 4:103)

Even if your prayer was weak or distracted, the benefits of adhkar after salat include asking Allah’s forgiveness in your errors and asking him to accept your effort.

    9. A Sunnah with enormous rewards

Among the importance of adhkar after salah is that it carries a massive reward. Our Prophet ﷺ said…

Should I not inform you of the best of your deed, and the purest of them with your Master, and the highest of them in your ranks, and what is better for you than spending gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks, and they strike your necks?”

They said: Of course. He said, The remembrance of Allah, Most High.

Then Mu’adh bin Jabal [may Allah be pleased with him] said: “There is nothing that brings more salvation from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah.”

    (Tirmidhi 3377)

    10. Leads to a peaceful heart and mind

There is a tranquility that only dhikr brings, the kind that can’t be found in wealth, status, or distraction. Try this and you will surely find out. Allah says…

“Those who believe and whose hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allah… Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”   (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:28)

Daily adhkar, either the morning adhkar, evening adhkar, or adhkar after salah, calms the soul, relieves anxiety, and brings mental clarity and emotional stability all through remembrance.

    11. Establishes a daily habit of Dhikr

Building the habit of dhikr after every Salah spreads throughout your day, until your life becomes adapted to constant remembrance of Allah. It will make it easy for you to engage in more adhkar, like daily morning and evening adhkar, and also make dua. By doing this, you’re becoming someone whose heart is always engaged with Allah, and that’s the mark of a righteous believer.

Check the practical tips for making adhkar a consistent habit here.

In conclusion, the importance of adhkar after salah cannot be disregarded. It shapes your soul, guards your day, through it your sins are forgiven, and brings you closer to Allah. The benefits of adhkar after salah are truly the best rewards any believer should never miss at all. Don’t miss out on doing your adhkar after each salah. Make it your daily companion, even if it will be doing it small, small, till you get adapted.

We ask Allah to make us among those who remember Him in the morning and the evening. Grant us the sweetness of dhikr, the light of Your guidance, and the strength to remain consistent in our adhkar after every salah. Accept it from us and forgive us our shortcomings. Aameen.
