Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh, dear brothers and sisters in Islam. You must be looking for answer for Dua After Azan. We are going to mention the recommended dua after Adhan that we should recite in shaa Allah in today’s article. But before that, let’s see the reasons and the benefits of saying the dua after adhan first to serve as an encouragement for us in adhering to saying it frequently.

One of the benefits is that it will be a means of earning the intercession of our Prophet Muhammad on the resurrection day. The prophet said:

Whoever hears the call to prayer and says, ‘O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, give Muhammad the means of nearness and the most excellent reward, and raise him to the praiseworthy station that You have promised him,’ then my intercession will be allowed for him on the Day of Resurrection.

    Bukhari 589

Another benefit is that it will be a means of earning Allah’s forgiveness. Our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

Whoever says when he hears the call to prayer, ‘I testify there is no God but Allah alone, without any partner, and Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, I am pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Muhammad as a messenger, and with Islam as a religion,’ then his sins will be forgiven.

    Muslim 386

Imagine you are sitting quietly at home, perhaps engaged in work or spending time with your family, when suddenly you hear the beautiful sound of the Adhan echoing from the masjid nearby. In that moment, your heart feels a gentle pull toward Allah, like you’re reminded of your real purpose in life – Yes, that is how the adhan is to us Muslims.

This call to prayer is also more than just a reminder; it’s like a direct invitation from Allah to pause our worldly engagements and turn our focus to Him i.e. to remind him. Imagine how special this is — Allah has gifted us the Adhan as a daily reminder to reconnect with Him and recharge our hearts with comfort through Salah.

So remember Me; I will remember you.  Al-Quran 2:152

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured, find rest by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured and find rest. Al-Quran 13:28

For us Muslims, hearing the Adhan is a call to return to our primary assignment in life, to worship Allah, to remember Him and thus gaining a lot of benefits in return as cited in the above verses. When we remember Allah, He remembers us too and in remembering Allah we can only find tranquility, comfort, and rest of mind.

The recommended dua after Adhan that we should always recite are mentioned to us by our prophet (ﷺ) and we are going to list them below now. Read more on the Etiqquettes of responding to the call to prayer.

    1. Dua After Adhan

Sa’d b. Abu Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If anyone says on hearing the Mu’adhdhin: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone. Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, (and that) I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger. and with Islam as deen (code of life), his sins would be forgiven. Muslim 386

Transliteration of the dua after Adhan

Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu wa anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu radhitu billahi rabban wa bi Muhammadin rasulan wa bil islami dinan

Whoever recites the dua after adhan will have his sins forgiven. This covers majorly the small small sins that we commit out of mistakes and unconsciousness. And Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the most pardoner, by saying this dua after adhan, He may use it as a means to cleanse us from our major sins too.

    2. Dua After Adhan

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Whoever after listening to the Adhan says,

[O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrection”.

Transliteration of the dua after Adhan

    ‘Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa’imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu’

dua after Adhan, recommended dua after Adhan

Whoever says this dua after adhan, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said that his intercession on the day of judgment will be allowed for this person. Imagine how severe and unpleasant this day will be and having the prophet interceding for someone on this day will be the happiest thing that one won’t even try to trade it with millions. I encourage every one of us to keep saying the two dua after adhan (dua after azan) sincerely and with the mindset of expecting the rewards attached to it on the day of judgment. This will also strengthen one’s belief about the judgment day too. We ask Allah to forgive us our sins, have mercy on us, keep us steadfast upon the deen, and admit us into His Jannah. Aameen
