As we all know, Death is a reality every soul must taste. No matter how wealthy, poor, young, or old you are, we are all going to return to our Lord. The next step after confirming the death of the deceased is to prepare him or her for burial. Our prophet taught us the right way on how to pray Salatul Janazah (funeral prayer in Islam) for our deceased, which we&#8217;ll learn today.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral in Islam is part of what should not be delayed unnecessarily, as it is part of honoring the deceased and <a href=\"https:\/\/deenminder.com\/blog\/rights-of-a-muslim-on-another-muslim\/\">fulfilling their rights as our brothers<\/a>. Delaying the burial and prayer without necessity is contrary to the Sunnah and disrespectful to the deceased. Islam teaches us to hasten with all that benefits the soul, and funeral prayer in Islam is no exception.\u00a0The Prophet \ufdfa said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>The Prophet (\ufdfa) said, &#8220;Hurry up with the dead body for if it was righteous, you are forwarding it to welfare; and if it was otherwise, then you are putting off an evil thing down your necks.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(Sahih al-Bukhari, 1315)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"hadith_narrated\">Ali bin Abi Talib also narrated that:<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"text_details\"><strong>The Messenger of Allah said to him: &#8220;O Ali! Three are not to be delayed: Salat when it is due, the funeral when it is presented, and (marriage) for the single woman when someone compatible is found.&#8221; (Jami` at-Tirmidhi, 1075)<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Salatul Janazah (Funeral Prayer in Islam), a final act of love, supplication, and it is\u00a0Fard Kifayah (that is, communal responsibility). If some Muslims perform it, the burden is lifted from the rest. But the entire community is held accountable if no one prays over the deceased. The reward that comes with this act is very great, and yet we still find a lot of people who don&#8217;t know how to pray Salatul Janazah. Yet, many Muslims who still don&#8217;t know how to pray Salatul Janazah correctly are missing out on this big reward. The most important question for those who don&#8217;t know how to pray Salatul Janazah is, what if you are asked to lead the prayer when there are few Muslims around and the deceased is a Muslim, what will you do? Now it&#8217;s time to learn.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-by-step_guide_on_how_to_pray_salatul_janazah_Funeral_prayer_in_Islam\"><\/span><strong>Step-by-step guide on how to pray salatul janazah (Funeral prayer in Islam)<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"72\" data-end=\"542\">Knowing how to pray Salatul Janazah properly is an essential duty for every one of us. It\u2019s a final farewell, final honour, and a collective du\u2019a on behalf of our deceased brother or sister. Unlike the five daily prayers, there is no ruku\u2019, no sujood, and no adhan or iqamah in the funeral prayer in Islam. The Imam stands level with the deceased\u2019s head (if male) or middle (if female). Here is the step-by-step guide below.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Make_the_Intention_Niyyah\"><\/span><strong>1. Make the Intention (Niyyah)<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Before starting,\u00a0silently make your intention in the heart. \u00a0No need to speak it aloud<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_First_Takbir_%E2%80%93_Say_%E2%80%98Allahu_Akbar\"><\/span><strong>2. First Takbir \u2013 Say \u2018Allahu Akbar\u2019<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1336\">After forming the intention, the Imam loudly says: <strong data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1358\">&#8220;Allahu Akbar&#8221;<\/strong>, and everyone follows by raising their hands and folding them over the chest. Then, silently recite <strong data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1480\">Surah Al-Faatihah<\/strong>, the opening chapter of the Qur\u2019an. Third Takbir \u2013 Say \u2018Allahu Akbar\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">After the Salawat, the Imam again says <strong data-start=\"2793\" data-end=\"2812\">\u201cAllahu Akbar\u201d<\/strong> and others follow.
