Assalaam Alaikum brothersa and sisters. We normally see a lot of people reciting different salutation prayers aside Solatul Ibrahimiyyah which is the correct one. Solatul Ibrahimiyyah is the only recommended one with evidence from the sunnah which the Prophet himself taught us.

We are going to mention the recommended places where it is advisable for us to be reciting it. But before we mention the places where it is recommended that we should recite Solatul Ibrahimiyyah, let’s quickly know and study the correct Solatul Ibrahimiyyah.

Solatul Ibrahimiyyah

Hadith on Solatul Ibrahimiyyah (English)

It was narrated that Hakam said:
I heard Ibn Abi Laila say: ‘Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah met me and said: “Shall I not give you a gift? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us and we said: ‘We know what it means to send greetings on you, but what does it mean to send peace and blessings upon you?’ He said: ‘Say:

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin, kama sallayta ‘ala Ibrahima, innaka Hamidun Majid; Allahumma barik ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin, kama barakta ‘ala Ibrahima, innaka Hamidun Majid

(O Allah, send your grace, honour and mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your grace, honour and mercy upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, 904)

This is the correct recommended durood from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself. Learn the Arabic version of the Solatul Ibrahimiyyah only once again:

We should try and desist from other duroods thay we know becaause they have some beliefs attached to many of them that may lead to sins, unwanted innovations and even disbelief. The likes of :

  • Durood-e-Taj (Salat al-Taj)
  • Durood-e-Tunajjina (Salat al-Tunajjina)
  • Durood-e-Fath (Salat al-Fath)
  • Durood-e-Nahariya (Salat al-Nahariya)
  • Durood-e-Muqaddas (Salat al-Muqaddas)
  • Durood-e-Ghausia (Salat al-Ghausia)
  • Durood-e-Mahi
  • Durood-e-Shifa
  • Durood-e-Akbar
  • Durood-e-Saadaat and many more

All of these should be avoided and we should hold on to the correct one that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us which is Solatul Ibrahimiyyah.
